#12 Write A Sitcom and Looking Forward To Creating LOLs

Seems as though I’m on a roll with this whole update thing!

Anyway, one of the things I’ve wanted to do the most and well one of the things I’ve always wanted to do was write a Sitcom! Since I was young, I’ve always loved comedy, it’s definitely my favourite well anything really! I’ve always been that type of person who, even though I should sometimes, tries never to take life too seriously, and that’s what I love about comedy, it can work on so many levels, it can accompany any other genre, tell so many different serious messages while being completely silly and if it is done well is just amazing!

So naturally, being someone who is quite well learned in the world of comedy (well I at least like to think I am), I’ve always wanted to get into it, my shyness stops me from being a stand up comedian since it is supposedly one of the hardest jobs there is (I really couldn’t take heckling at all!) I’ve always wanted to write comedy instead, and although I have done it in a minor way several times, I don’t have anything solid I can show someone and be like ‘there you go that’s some humour I have done now laugh!’ So finally getting round to start writing a Sitcom is so very fun and exciting for me!

It all started when I was out with some friends and said we should all take time off work and write a sitcom based on our job, cinema work obviously, I didn’t mean it seriously it was just something I thought would be cool, but my friend Rosie was up for it, being a writer herself, so we decided to go for it!

We planned for a bit, and I already had some stuff left over from trying to write one based on my previous job when I worked in a kitchen at an old folks home, and also a few vague writing attempts at making a Clerks-esque film set in a cinema, then last week had our first writing session. Needless to say being two people who like writing and mind constantly swells with creative juices, it went very well and pretty much got the first 4 scenes written. We’re kind of going for something along the lines of Srubs, The Simpsons, The Young Ones, just daft comedies that also have a lot of heart and want to get a message across, and I don’t want to give too much away but it is obviously based on our little friendship group at work and whenever I think about it I get very excited and just want to tell everyone every little detail!

We couldn’t make a meeting this week as we were both busy, but we should soon both be living together when I move out so we should be getting more done soon, it would be amazing if we could record it, we know plenty of people who would be able to help us so who knows! Exciting times!

Until next time friends, whenever that may be!

Wes out!
